Church. ROC. Repentance covers the whole life
According to
Fr. Andrey Tkachev
Enter heaven by repentance?
Repentance… it covers the entire human life. … You all came to the Church by repentance. We all have some kind of repentance. If there weren't any, we wouldn't come here. Why should we come here without repentance?
… Because the entire Church of God is the Church of penitents. … If you do not continue to repent, you will leave the Church. You came here because you repent. … Therefore, continue to repent, without strain, without picturesque scenes, by the way, you need to repent not for show. A repentant person has pain in his heart, but a smile on his face. … And if a person does not repent, he will fly out of the Church. People come to the Church by repentance, and remain in the Church by repentance, and
enter heaven by repentance.
… Without repentance, a person is a soap bubble, in love with his own deceptive righteousness. And this bubble will burst and the person will be ashamed. So our Lord Jesus Christ today told us very simple words: “Repent: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand”
(Matt 4:17).
One cannot agree with Archpriest Andrei Tkachev that “People …
enter heaven by repentance.”
It is necessary that a person
most of all
wants to enter heaven.
In the parable
(Matthew 22:2-14),
it is obvious that those who are called are churched people, most likely they even belong to the hierarchy. “But
they made light of
it, and went their ways, one to his farm, another to his merchandise.” So, in order to be among the “chosen ones,” a churchgoer needs to wait and thirst for the coming of His Kingdom: “Thy Kingdom come”
(Luke 11:2).
By the way, in the Lord's Prayer, the request for repentance “forgive us our sins;
for we also forgive every one that is indebted to us” comes after the request for the
coming of the Kingdom of God the Father
(Luke 11:2-4).
2
The kingdom of heaven is like unto a certain king, which made a marriage for his son,
Pro 9:1-2.
Luke 14:16.
Rev 19:7.
3
And sent forth his servants
to call them that were bidden to the wedding: and they would not come.
4
Again, he sent forth other servants, saying, Tell them which are bidden, Behold, I have prepared my dinner: my oxen and
my
fatlings
are
killed, and all things
are
ready: come unto the marriage.
5
But
they made light of
it, and went their ways, one to his farm, another to his merchandise:
6
And the remnant took his servants, and entreated
them
spitefully, and slew
them.
7
But when the king heard
thereof, he was wroth: and he sent forth his armies, and destroyed those murderers, and burned up their city.
Luke 19:27.
8
Then saith he to his servants, The wedding is ready, but
they which were bidden were not worthy.
9
Go ye therefore into the highways, and as many as ye shall find, bid to the marriage.
10
So those servants went out into the highways, and gathered together all as many as they found, both bad and good: and the wedding was furnished with guests.
11
And when the king came in to see the guests, he saw there a man which had not on a wedding garment:
12
And he saith unto him, Friend, how camest thou in hither not having a wedding garment?
And he was speechless.
13
Then said the king to the servants, Bind him hand and foot, and take him away, and cast
him
into outer darkness;
there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
14
For many are called, but few
are
chosen.
Matt 20:16.
2
And he said unto them, When ye pray, say, Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come.
Thy will be done, as in heaven, so in earth.
Matt 6:9.
3
Give us day by day our daily bread.
Pro 30:8.
4
And
forgive us our sins;
for we also forgive every one that is indebted to us.
And lead us not into temptation;
but deliver us from evil.
1 Peter 5:8.
2 Peter 2:9.
1 Cor 10:13.
22
For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive.
23
But every man in his own order: Christ the firstfruits;
afterward they that are Christ's at his coming.
1 Thess 4:15-16.
24
Then
cometh
the end, when
he shall have delivered up the kingdom to God,
even the Father;
when he shall have put down all rule and all authority and power.
Dan 7:14.
Matt 28:18.
1 Tim 6:15.
25
For he must reign, till he hath put all enemies under his feet.
Psa 109:1.
Acts 2:34.
Hebrews 1:13.
26
The last enemy
that
shall be destroyed
is
death.
Rev 20:14.
27
For he hath put all things under his feet. But when he saith all things are put under
him, it is
manifest that he is excepted, which did put all things under him.
Psa 8:7.
Hebrews 2:8.
28
And when all things shall be subdued unto him, then shall the Son also himself be subject unto him that put all things under him, that God may be all in all.
1 Cor 11:3.
Promise of the Father
It should be noted that although John the Baptist baptized “many of the Pharisees and Sadducees … with water unto repentance”
(Matthew 3:7-11),
there is no mention of many of the Pharisees and Sadducees receiving “the promise of the Father”
(Luke 24:49)
on the Day of Pentecost
(Acts 2).
1
And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place.
Lev 23:16.
Deu 16:9.
2
And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting.
Matt 3:11.
Acts 1:5.
Acts 11:15.
Acts 19:6.
3
And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them.
4
And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.
Mark 16:17.
1 Cor 12:10,28.
…
44
And all that believed were together, and
had all things common;
Acts 4:32.
45
And sold their possessions and goods, and parted them to all
men, as every man had need.
46
And they, continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, did eat their meat with gladness and singleness of heart,
Luke 24:53.
Acts 20:11.
47
Praising God, and having favour with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved.
Acts 5:14.
Acts 11:21.
1
But a certain man named Ananias, with Sapphira his wife, sold a possession,
2
And kept back
part
of the price, his wife also being privy
to it, and brought a certain part, and laid
it
at the apostles' feet.
3
But Peter said, Ananias, why hath Satan filled thine heart to lie to the Holy Ghost, and to keep back
part
of the price of the land?
Num 30:3.
Eccl 5:3.
4
Whiles it remained, was it not thine own?
and after it was sold, was it not in thine own power?
why hast thou conceived this thing in thine heart?
thou hast not lied unto men, but unto God.
5
And Ananias hearing these words fell down, and gave up the ghost: and great fear came on all them that heard these things.
Do we want to enter the Kingdom of God the Father?
“had all things common;
And sold their possessions and goods, and parted them to all men, as every man had need”
(Acts 2:44-45).
You can't cheat: “Ananias … fell down, and gave up the ghost”
(Acts 5:5).
No wonder “great fear came on all them that heard these things”
(Acts 5:5).
That is why, when those invited did not come to the wedding feast, the king ordered his servants: “Go ye therefore into the highways (τὰς διεξόδους τῶν ὁδῶν), and as many as ye shall find, bid to the marriage. So those servants went out into the highways, and gathered together all as many as they found, both bad and good”
(Matt 22:9-10).
At the highways there were beggars (begging for alms)
who had no property, who had nothing to lose, nothing to hope for except in God.
G1327 - διέξοδος
1. a way out through, outlet, exit
1. literally the ways through which ways go out
2. the places before the city where the roads from the country terminate, therefore outlets of the country highways, also entrances into the city
3. of boundaries of countries
διέξοδος — an outlet through, i.e. probably an open square (from which roads diverge)
— highway
Let us remember the words of the Apostle Peter: “Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when
the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord;
And he shall send Jesus Christ, which before was preached unto you”
(Acts 3:19-20).
19
Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when
the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord;
20
And he shall send Jesus Christ, which before was preached unto you:
Isaih 49:10.
21
Whom the heaven must receive
until the times of restitution of all things, which God hath spoken by the mouth of all his holy prophets since the world began.
