Apparitions

The spectacular and widely witnessed public appearances of the Virgin Mary occurred over and around the Coptic Orthodox Church of St. Mary in Zeitoun, a busy Cairo suburb from 1968-1971. The first apparition at Zeitoun was started on the evening of April 2, 1968.[2][3]

The apparitions used to last for a long period that reached, at certain times, two hours and a quarter and had accompanied by glittering objects in the form of doves.[4]

Every night thousands of Egyptians, foreigners, journalists, religious representatives of Western Christianity and the tourists had witnessed the apparition.[5]

As result of apparitions were the miraculous cures that have occured to many patiens whose cases have been examined by all concerned, medically and scientifically. Many unbelivers and people of weak faith were repented and converted.[4]

On May 5 1968, a special committee of eminent Coptic clergymen appointed by Pope Kyrillos VI submitted their official report on the apparitions. [2]
