History. This world
Powers of this world
According to Fr. Sergei Bulgakov

The powers of this world and immortality

Adam got the false idea that the spiritual might and immortality could be obtained by the powers of this world. As a result he fell into cosmism or practical atheism and was punished precisely with this cosmism: he became a natural, cosmic being.

So, wherein are the power and essence of original or hereditary sin? Like all sins it has two aspects: a subjective and an objective aspect, guilt (reatus) and its consequences - impairment and corruption; in it there are its own freedom and its own necessity. In Adam himself, evidently, both aspects of original sin are joined: here there were his free self-determination and the personal sin of disobedience, unbelief and hatred for God, in virtue of which he got the false idea that the spiritual might and immortality could be obtained by the powers of this world, by eating the forbidden fruit. Adam fell into cosmism or practical atheism and was punished precisely with this cosmism: he became a natural, cosmic being.

The temptation of magic facing creativity

It is possible to gain mastery of the forces of this world and its charms also with sound and color.

It is possible to gain mastery of the forces of this world and its charms not only with machines and chemistry, but also with sound and color, just as it is conceivable to shake its physical foundations not only with dynamite but also with music whose different rhythms are perhaps capable of killing like an electric current. Unnoticeably for himself, an artist can perpetrate a substitution and turn his art into a special artistic magic. This temptation of magism has always stood before art, but it gains a particular significance for the present day.

On the other hand economy (in the broad sense) also feels itself to be creative activity and, at a certain prominence of achievement, begins to be a little embarrassed of its thriftiness like the brands of slavery; for this reason it seeks possible approximations to art, it premeditatedly and consciously aestheticizes.
