Vatican. Russicum — Pontifical Russian College
Russicum — St. Teresa's College
Thérèse of Lisieux was beatified in 1923 and canonized in 1925. The Carmelites were entrusted with collecting money for the processes of beatification and canonization. More money was raised than needed. The Prior General of the order asked Pope Pius XI: what to do with the remaining money?
Pius XI proposed to build a College where priests would be trained for missionary work in Russia. In August 1929 the College opened. The official name of the College is still «St. Teresa's College».
