Bible. Love the Lord your God

New Testament

36 Master, which is the great commandment in the law?
37 Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. Deu 6, 5. Mic 6, 8. Mar 12, 30. Luk 10, 27.
38 This is the first and great commandment.
39 And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. Lev 19, 18. Mat 5, 43. Mar 12, 31.
40 On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.

28 And one of the scribes came, and having heard them reasoning together, and perceiving that he had answered them well, asked him, Which is the first commandment of all? Mat 22, 35. Luk 10, 25.
29 And Jesus answered him, The first of all the commandments is, Hear, O Israel; The Lord our God is one Lord: Mat 22, 37. Luk 10, 27.
30 And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment. Deu 6, 4-5.
31 And the second is like, namely this, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than these. Lev 19, 18. Mat 5, 43. Jas 2, 8. Rom 13, 9. Gal 5, 14.

25 And, behold, a certain lawyer stood up, and tempted him, saying, Master, what shall I do to inherit eternal life? Mat 22, 35. Mar 12, 28.
26 He said unto him, What is written in the law? how readest thou?
27 And he answering said, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart (Ἀγαπήσεις κύριον τὸν θεόν σου ἐξ ὅλης τῆς καρδίας σου), and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind; and thy neighbour as thyself (τὸν πλησίον σου ὡς σεαυτόν). Lev 19, 18. Deu 6, 5. Mat 22, 37. Mar 12, 29.
28 And he said unto him, Thou hast answered right: this do, and thou shalt live. Lev 18, 5.
29 But he, willing to justify himself, said unto Jesus, And who is my neighbour?
30 And Jesus answering said, A certain man went down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and fell among thieves, which stripped him of his raiment, and wounded him, and departed, leaving him half dead.
31 And by chance there came down a certain priest that way: and when he saw him, he passed by on the other side. Act 10, 28.
32 And likewise a Levite, when he was at the place, came and looked on him, and passed by on the other side.
33 But a certain Samaritan, as he journeyed, came where he was: and when he saw him, he had compassion on him,
34 And went to him, and bound up his wounds, pouring in oil and wine, and set him on his own beast, and brought him to an inn, and took care of him.
35 And on the morrow when he departed, he took out two pence, and gave them to the host, and said unto him, Take care of him; and whatsoever thou spendest more, when I come again, I will repay thee.
36 Which now of these three, thinkest thou, was neighbour unto him that fell among the thieves?
37 And he said, He that shewed mercy on him. Then said Jesus unto him, Go, and do thou likewise.

Old Testament

4 Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God is one LORD: Mar 12, 29.
5 And thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might. Mat 22, 37. Mar 12, 30. Luk 10, 27.
6 And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart: Deu 4, 9.
7 And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up. Deu 30, 19. Psa 78, 5-6.
8 And thou shalt bind them for a sign upon thine hand, and they shall be as frontlets between thine eyes.
9 And thou shalt write them upon the posts of thy house, and on thy gates.

12 A land which the LORD thy God careth for: the eyes of the LORD thy God are always upon it, from the beginning of the year even unto the end of the year. Psa 65, 11.
13 And it shall come to pass, if ye shall hearken diligently unto my commandments which I command you this day, to love the LORD your God, and to serve him with all your heart and with all your soul, Deu 28, 1-2.
14 That I will give you the rain of your land in his due season, the first rain and the latter rain, that thou mayest gather in thy corn, and thy wine, and thine oil Lev 26, 4. Jer 5, 24. Hos 6, 3.
15 And I will send grass in thy fields for thy cattle, that thou mayest eat and be full.
16 Take heed to yourselves, that your heart be not deceived, and ye turn aside, and serve other gods, and worship them; Exo 23, 24.
17 And then the LORD'S wrath be kindled against you, and he shut up the heaven, that there be no rain, and that the land yield not her fruit; and lest ye perish quickly from off the good land which the LORD giveth you. Lev 26, 19-20. Deu 4, 26.

22 For if ye shall diligently keep all these commandments which I command you, to do them, to love the LORD your God, to walk in all his ways, and to cleave unto him; Deu 6, 5.
23 Then will the LORD drive out all these nations from before you, and ye shall possess greater nations and mightier than yourselves. Deu 7, 1.
