Pamfil Danilovich Yurkevich — Russian idealist philosopher and teacher.

born — February 16 (28)1826, Poltava, Russia
died — October 4 (16), 1874, Moscow

Son of a priest;
Upbringing and education in the Poltava Seminary and the Kiev Theological Academy;
in 1851 he was appointed instructor in the class of Philosophical Sciences;
in 1852 was elevated to the master's degree;
in 1857 in excess of his Philosophy teaching was charged with teaching the German language;
In 1861 was elevated to the rank of full Professor and in the same year, was invited to the philosophy department at Moscow University. In Moscow, he taught more pedagogy in teaching Seminary of the military departments.
1869—1873 — Dean of History and Philology Faculty of the Moscow University .

The Heart and Its Significance in the Spiritual Life of Man

Has developed a peculiar variant of Christian Platonism. The idea of Yurkevich — objectively real essence of things, its raison d'etre, "rule" and "law" of its existence. Recognizing the importance of experience and observation, put forward the demand to find and interpret the idea of a phenomenon existing reality.

At the heart of anthropology Yurkevich — biblical teaching about the role of the "heart" as the focus of the spiritual life of man, which, according to Yurkevich precondition for true knowledge. Idealist criticism Yurkevich work by Chernyshevsky, "The Anthropological Principle in Philosophy", marked the beginning of a stormy debate (statements by Chernyshevsky, M.A. Antonovich, etc.), which had wide public resonance. From the Marxist standpoint Yurkevich criticized Plekhanov. Themes work Yurkevich largely determined responsive the subsequent development of philosophical idealism in Russia (e.g., in Vl.
