To advance in prayer you need to love it

… First of all, we must remember that prayer is the living, the real communion with God. "Prayer is a means to attract and hand of acceptance for all the graces, so abundantly poured out on us from the inexhaustible source of boundless love for us and God's goodness" (St. Nicodemus the Hagiorite, Unseen Warfare). Therefore, it must be performed with care. It does not come immediately. You have to be patient. There was a time when we did not know how to read and write, but the effort has yielded results. Similarly, we learn to pray. We need to be consistent.

To advance in prayer you need to love it, bearing in mind that the time of prayer is the time of communication with our loving Heavenly Parent. … At the time of prayer, we must try to free our mind from life's daily cares. Our condition is favorable for prayer when we have peace of mind. If you are not reconciled with someone, then during the prayer the thoughts of condemnation are going to rise up and resentment and anger are going to sharpen.

… As the cleansing of the heart and the acquisition of the virtues continues, the prayer will not only become an attentive, intelligent, but also warm, cordial, lively.
