To say that it is merely irrational fear that causes people to question the desirability of the Singularity is not fair. Singularity presents a true danger to the human race, and the most renowned Singularity advocates freely admit to this fact. AGI already has its own cult following. This cult mainly consists of researchers who are searching for a way to bring their god to life. They are operating on the belief that the possible benefits of creating AGI outweigh the dangers. Yes, humanity could be, and likely will be eradicated, but something better will take its place. The attainment of superintelligence is well worth the cost.

Understand that it would be impossible to implement the transhuman vision and remain completely human. A posthuman would be so different from us that it could not be considered the same species. The end of life as we know it is the only thing that we could be certain of upon entering a posthuman world. Now if this isn’t a dark concept, then I don’t know what is. The transhumanists have a huge job to do. First and foremost they are tasked with convincing the world that this is all a good idea. Doing so requires a masterfully crafted detour of the human survival instinct itself. Is this the truth behind transhumanism? Have our subconscious feelings of dread been correct? Is the human species endangered, and if so, then who is to blame? These are hard questions to answer, but they have to be asked. We cannot glaze over concerns for the wellbeing of humanity in a mad rush toward a technologically driven chaotic future. If it is possible, then we must stop and think about where we are and what we are doing. Now is the time to ask all of the hard questions that have consistently been ignored.

How do you go about enhancing people, turning them into posthumans, if no one is interested in the first place? Most people would not want transhuman upgrades outright; and that is why so many public voices are hard at work trying to convince us that this is all a good idea. Public acceptance must be manufactured before any actual technologies are distributed. To do this effectively requires the intelligent creation of propaganda. Wars bring about major societal change and, truth be told, there is an ongoing war to win over the hearts and minds of the people. This war is waged in plain sight and most never even notice it. Folks even go so far as to steadfastly deny that such a war even exists due to a lack of evidence. All one needs to do is open his mind to see that he is swimming in a sea of evidence. Propaganda has forever been a force at work within civilization. The larger the society, the more important it has been to create psychological cohesion.
