Bible. The Day of the Lord
The day of the Lord is darkness, and not light
7
Ye who turn judgment to wormwood, and leave off righteousness in the earth,
… 18 Woe unto you that desire the day of the LORD! to what end is it for you? the day of the LORD is darkness, and not light. Isa 5, 19. Jer 30, 7. Joe 2, 11. Zep 1, 15. 19 As if a man did flee from a lion, and a bear met him; or went into the house, and leaned his hand on the wall, and a serpent bit him. Isa 24, 18. Jer 48, 44. 20 Shall not the day of the LORD be darkness, and not light? even very dark, and no brightness in it? Joe 2, 2. 21 I hate, I despise your feast days, and I will not smell in your solemn assemblies. Isa 1, 11. Jer 6, 20.
In pain as a woman that travaileth
6
Howl ye;
for the day of the LORD
is
at hand;
it shall come as
a destruction from the Almighty.
Joe 1, 15.
7 Therefore shall all hands be faint, and every man's heart shall melt: 8 And they shall be afraid: pangs and sorrows shall take hold of them; they shall be in pain as a woman that travaileth: they shall be amazed one at another; their faces shall be as flames. 2Ki 19, 3. Psa 48, 6. Isa 21, 3. 9 Behold, the day of the LORD cometh, cruel both with wrath and fierce anger, to lay the land desolate: and he shall destroy the sinners thereof out of it. Isa 22, 5. 10 For the stars of heaven and the constellations thereof shall not give their light: the sun shall be darkened in his going forth, and the moon shall not cause her light to shine. Isa 24, 23. Eze 32, 7. Joe 2, 31. Joe 3, 15. Mat 24, 29. Mar 13, 24. Luk 21, 25. 11 And I will punish the world for their evil, and the wicked for their iniquity; and I will cause the arrogancy of the proud to cease, and will lay low the haughtiness of the terrible.
At evening time it will be light
The day of the Lord is a day of darkness and gloom, a day of clouds and blackness. The Lord will gather all the nations against Jerusalem to battle. The day of the Lord is great;
it is dreadful. Who can endure it?
1
Blow ye the trumpet in Zion, and sound an alarm in my holy mountain: let all the inhabitants of the land tremble: for
the day of the LORD
cometh, for
it is
nigh at hand;
Num 10, 3.
Isa 2, 12.
Joe 1, 15.
2 A day of darkness and of gloominess, a day of clouds and of thick darkness, as the morning spread upon the mountains: a great people and a strong; there hath not been ever the like, neither shall be any more after it, even to the years of many generations. Jer 13, 16. Eze 30, 3. Amo 5, 18. … 12 Therefore also now, saith the LORD, turn ye even to me with all your heart, and with fasting, and with weeping, and with mourning: Jer 4, 1. 13 And rend your heart, and not your garments, and turn unto the LORD your God: for he is gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and of great kindness, and repenteth him of the evil. Exo 34:6. Psa 86, 5. Jon 4, 2. … 17 Let the priests, the ministers of the LORD, weep between the porch and the altar, and let them say, Spare thy people, O LORD, and give not thine heritage to reproach, that the heathen should rule over them: wherefore should they say among the people, Where is their God? Psa 42, 10. Mic 7, 10. 18 Then will the LORD be jealous for his land, and pity his people. … 27 And ye shall know that I am in the midst of Israel, and that I am the LORD your God, and none else: and my people shall never be ashamed. Isa 45, 5. 28 And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions: Isa 44, 3. Eze 36, 25. Jhn 7, 39. Act 2, 17. 29 And also upon the servants and upon the handmaids in those days will I pour out my spirit. Act 2, 18. Rom 8, 15. Gal 4, 6. 1Pe 2, 9. 30 And I will shew wonders in the heavens and in the earth, blood, and fire, and pillars of smoke. 31 The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and the terrible day of the LORD come. 32 And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the LORD shall be delivered (מָלַט H4422): for in mount Zion and in Jerusalem shall be deliverance (פְּלֵיטָה H6413), as the LORD hath said, and in the remnant whom the LORD shall call. Rom 10, 13.
1
Behold, the day of the LORD cometh, and thy spoil shall be divided in the midst of thee.
2 For I will gather all nations against Jerusalem to battle; and the city shall be taken, and the houses rifled, and the women ravished; and half of the city shall go forth into captivity, and the residue of the people shall not be cut off from the city. Zec 12, 3. Isa 13, 16. 3 Then shall the LORD go forth, and fight against those nations, as when he fought in the day of battle. 4 And his feet shall stand in that day upon the mount of Olives, which is before Jerusalem on the east, and the mount of Olives shall cleave in the midst thereof toward the east and toward the west, and there shall be a very great valley; and half of the mountain shall remove toward the north, and half of it toward the south. Act 1, 12. 5 And ye shall flee to the valley of the mountains; for the valley of the mountains shall reach unto Azal: yea, ye shall flee, like as ye fled from before the earthquake in the days of Uzziah king of Judah: and the LORD my God shall come, and all the saints with thee. 2Ch 26, 1. Amo 1, 1. 6 And it shall come to pass in that day, that the light shall not be clear, nor dark: Mat 24, 29. 7 But it shall be one day which shall be known to the LORD, not day, nor night: but it shall come to pass, that at evening time it shall be light. Rev 21, 23, 25. Rev 22, 5. Isa 60, 20. 8 And it shall be in that day, that living waters shall go out from Jerusalem; half of them toward the former sea, and half of them toward the hinder sea: in summer and in winter shall it be. Eze 47, 1. Joe 3, 18. Rev 22, 1. 9 And the LORD shall be king over all the earth: in that day shall there be one LORD, and his name one. Isa 52, 7. Jer 23, 5. 1Co 8, 6. 10 All the land shall be turned as a plain from Geba to Rimmon south of Jerusalem: and it shall be lifted up, and inhabited in her place, from Benjamin's gate unto the place of the first gate, unto the corner gate, and from the tower of Hananeel unto the king's winepresses. Zec 8, 21-22. Neh 3, 6, 23. Jer 31, 38. 11 And men shall dwell in it, and there shall be no more utter destruction; but Jerusalem shall be safely inhabited. Isa 33, 20. Rom 8, 15. Rev 22, 3.
Saviours will come up on mount Zion to govern the mountains of Esau
15
For the day of the LORD
is
near upon all the heathen: as thou hast done, it shall be done unto thee: thy reward shall return upon thine own head.
Eze 35, 15.
16 For as ye have drunk upon my holy mountain, so shall all the heathen drink continually, yea, they shall drink, and they shall swallow down, and they shall be as though they had not been. 17 But upon mount Zion shall be deliverance, and there shall be holiness; and the house of Jacob shall possess their possessions Isa14, 2. 18 And the house of Jacob shall be a fire, and the house of Joseph a flame, and the house of Esau for stubble, and they shall kindle in them, and devour them; and there shall not be any remaining of the house of Esau; for the LORD hath spoken it. 19 And they of the south shall possess the mount of Esau; and they of the plain the Philistines: and they shall possess the fields of Ephraim, and the fields of Samaria: and Benjamin shall possess Gilead. 20 And the captivity of this host of the children of Israel shall possess that of the Canaanites, even unto Zarephath; and the captivity of Jerusalem, which is in Sepharad, shall possess the cities of the south. 1Ki 17, 9. 21 And saviours shall come up on mount Zion to judge the mount of Esau; and the kingdom shall be the LORD'S. Psa 110, 6. Mic 4, 7. Jhn 16, 8.
The one shall be taken, and the other left
40
Then shall two be in the field;
the one shall be taken, and the other left.
41 Two women shall be grinding at the mill; the one shall be taken, and the other left.
