Fatima. Apparition at Tuy (Spain) (1944-01-02)On January 2, 1944, the Mother of God appeared to Lucia when she was at the convention of the Sisters of St. Dorothea in the Spanish town of Tui. The Blessed Virgin allowed Lucia to write down the Third Secret of Fatima and to transmit the text to Bishop da Silva (Bishop da Silva). The bishop had the right to immediately read the text, but did not dare to do so. He tried to hand over the document to the Vatican, but the Vatican refused to accept it and ordered everything to be left in the office of the Diocese of Leiria. In June 1943, she fell ill with pleurisy. At first, the disease did not seem dangerous, but soon her health deteriorated sharply. The situation became more and more serious and those around her began to fear for her life. During these days, Lucia was in the convention of the Sisters of St. Dorothea in the Spanish town of Tuy (Tuy). I am recovering from a sickness which has kept me in bed for around two months: a pneumonia, which then caused me to have a liquid pleurisy, and finally, an infection caused by an injection. Now all I have is a little fever which will go away with time, if God wills.

The Whole Truth About Fatima Vol.III, Prt.I, Ch.II THE WRITING DOWN AND PASSING ON OF THE FINAL SECRET Bishop Permission to Record the Third SecretBy that time, Lucia (September-October 1943) had disclosed only the first two parts of the Secret of Fatima, and the third part, the so-called Third Secret of Fatima, remained known only to her. Bishop da Silva of Leiria feared that the Church might never know this secret. On the advice of Canon Galamba, on September 15, 1943, the Bishop visited Lucia and suggested that, "if she so wished," she write the third part of the Secret and hand it over to him in a sealed envelope for safekeeping. Having become a nun, Lucia tried not to make serious decisions based on her desires: she was waiting either for instructions from above, or for an order coming from the hierarchy. It seems to me that to write it down is already in a way to disclose it, and I do not yet have Our Lord’s permission to do that. In any case, as I am used to seeing the Will of God in the wishes of my superiors, I am thinking of obedience, and I don’t know what to do. I prefer an express command which I can rely on before God, so that I can say in all security, “They ordered me that, Lord.” But those words “if you wish” disturb me and leave me perplexed.

The Whole Truth About Fatima Vol.III, Prt.I, Ch.II A TERRIBLE NIGHT (SEPTEMBER-OCTOBER 1943) The Bishop Commanded to Write the Third SecretLucia decided not to write down the Third Secret until she received a clear order from the bishop to do so. Finally, in mid-October 1943, she received a letter from Bishop da Silva instructing her to write down the Third Secret of Fatima. In a letter to the Archbishop of Valladolid, Lucia wrote: They have ordered me to write down the part of the Secret that Our Lady revealed in 1917, and which I still keep hidden, by command of the Lord. They tell me either to write it in the notebooks in which I’ve been told to keep my spiritual diary, or if I wish, to write it on a sheet of paper, put it in an envelope, and then close it and seal it up.

The Whole Truth About Fatima Vol.III, Prt.I, Ch.II BISHOP DA SILVA’S DECISION AND SISTER LUCY’S LONG AGONY Lucia is not capable of writing the SecretHaving received the command of the hierarchy, Lucia began to fulfill it. But something prevented her from writing down the third part of the Fatima secret. Every time she took up a pen and sat down to work, she was unable to write anything… Before this apparition of the Mother of God, at the infirmary of Tuy, three times the seer had attempted to write the Secret in order to obey the order of Don José Alves Correia da Silva, but she was never capable. Only after this vision was she able to do so without the slightest difficulty, …

The Whole Truth About Fatima Vol.III, Prt.I, Ch.II FINALLY, SISTER LUCY WRITES THE SECRET (JANUARY 2-9, 1944) The Mother of God allowed to write down the Third SecretOn January 2, 1944, the Mother of God appeared to Lucia. The Blessed Virgin confirmed that it is indeed the desire of Heaven that the Third Secret of Fatima be handed over to the hands of the Church hierarchy. For a long time, Lucia could not find a reliable way to convey the Third Secret she had written down to Bishop da Silva. Only on June 17, 1944, she entrusted the notebook with an envelope sealed with wax to Archbishop Manuel Maria Ferreira da Silva. In the evening of the same day, the archbishop presented these documents to Bishop da Silva.
