Prophet Daniel (hebr. דָּנִיֵּאל)

Born: 7th century BC;
Died: 6th century BC; Babylon

The prophet Daniel is one of four Major Prophets in Hebrew Scripture, along with Isaiah, Jeremiah, and Ezekiel. The Book of Daniel is followed by the Prophet Hosea, the first of the Prophets of the Book of the Twelve. Daniel in the Lions' Den is a favorite Bible story for children. In addition, the captivating prophecy, imagery, and symbolism make the Book of Daniel one of the most read of the Old Testament of the Bible.

Jesus Christ, in announcing the Kingdom of God is at hand in Mark 1:15, fulfills the prophecy in Daniel 2:44-45. He calls himself the Son of Man in all four Gospels and the Book of Revelation (1:13 and 14:14), reminding us that he fulfills the destiny of the Messianic figure in Daniel 7:13. The striking prophecy of the Anointed One in Daniel 9:24-27 is accomplished in Jesus the Christ (Matthew 1:16, 16:16) or Messiah (John 1:41, 4:25).

45 Forasmuch as thou sawest that the stone was cut out of the mountain without hands, and that it brake in pieces the iron, the brass, the clay, the silver, and the gold; the great God hath made known to the king what shall come to pass hereafter: and the dream is certain, and the interpretation thereof sure.

14 and came to make you understand what is to befall your people in the latter days. For the vision is for days yet to come."
15 When he had spoken to me according to these words, I turned my face toward the ground and was dumb.
16 And behold, one in the likeness of the sons of men touched my lips; then I opened my mouth and spoke. I said to him who stood before me, "O my lord, by reason of the vision pains have come upon me, and I retain no strength.
17 How can my lord's servant talk with my lord? For now no strength remains in me, and no breath is left in me."
18 Again one having the appearance of a man touched me and strengthened me. Дан 10, 5, 16.

Prophesy about the half of the week

After half this time, he will put an end to the sacrifices and offerings. And as a climax to all his terrible deeds he will set up a sacrilegious object that causes desecration (Дан.9:27).

20 And whiles I was speaking, and praying, and confessing my sin and the sin of my people Israel, and presenting my supplication before the LORD my God for the holy mountain of my God;
21 Yea, whiles I was speaking in prayer, even the man Gabriel, whom I had seen in the vision at the beginning, being caused to fly swiftly, touched me about the time of the evening oblation. Дан 8, 16.
22 And he informed me, and talked with me, and said, O Daniel, I am now come forth to give thee skill and understanding.
23 At the beginning of thy supplications the commandment came forth, and I am come to shew thee; for thou art greatly beloved: therefore understand the matter, and consider the vision. 1 Езд 6, 14. Дан 10, 12.
24 Seventy weeks are determined upon thy people and upon thy holy city, to finish the transgression, and to make an end of sins, and to make reconciliation for iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness, and to seal up the vision and prophecy, and to anoint the most Holy. Иер 23, 5. Иез 37, 25.
25 Know therefore and understand, that from the going forth of the commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem unto the Messiah the Prince shall be seven weeks, and threescore and two weeks: the street shall be built again, and the wall, even in troublous times. 1 Езд 6, 14. Лк 7, 19.
26 And after threescore and two weeks shall Messiah be cut off, but not for himself: and the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary; and the end thereof shall be with a flood, and unto the end of the war desolations are determined. Ис 53, 8. Мф 24, 2. Дан 11, 10.
27 And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.
