Bible. Seed of serpent (offspring of serpent)

The enmity between the serpent and the woman
and between the seed of the serpent and the seed of the woman

From the time when the ancestors disobeyed the Creator the enmity between the serpent and the woman and between the seed of the serpent and the seed of the woman, the battle, (Gen.3:15) determines the history of mankind.

14 And the LORD God said unto the serpent, Because thou hast done this, thou art cursed above all cattle, and above every beast of the field; upon thy belly shalt thou go, and dust shalt thou eat all the days of thy life: Psa.72:9.
15 And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed (τοῦ σπέρματός σου) and her seed (τοῦ σπέρματος αὐτῆς); it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel. Gen.14,18. Psa.112:1,2,4.
Gen.3:14-15

In this battle those, who is the good seed and fights on the side of the woman, — are the children of the Kingdom (Mat.13:38). But those, who grows as the tares and fights on the side of the serpent, — are the children of the wicked one (Mat.13:39).

24 Another parable put he forth unto them, saying, The kingdom of heaven is likened unto a man which sowed good seed in his field:
25 But while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat, and went his way.
26 But when the blade was sprung up, and brought forth fruit, then appeared the tares also.
27 So the servants of the householder came and said unto him, Sir, didst not thou sow good seed in thy field? from whence then hath it tares?
28 He said unto them, An enemy hath done this. The servants said unto him, Wilt thou then that we go and gather them up?
29 But he said, Nay; lest while ye gather up the tares, ye root up also the wheat with them.
30 Let both grow together until the harvest: and in the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, Gather ye together first the tares, and bind them in bundles to burn them: but gather the wheat into my barn.
Mat.13:24-30

37 He answered and said unto them, He that soweth the good seed is the Son of man;
38 The field is the world (ὁ κόσμος); the good seed are the children of the kingdom (οἱ υἱοὶ τῆς βασιλείας); but the tares are the children of the wicked one (οἱ υἱοὶ τοῦ πονηροῦ);
39 The enemy that sowed them is the devil (ὁ διάβολος); the harvest is the end of the world; and the reapers are the angels. Joe.3,13. Rev.14,15.
Mat.13:37-39

Those, who outwardly appears righteous unto men,
are serpents, generation of vipers

The Saviour explains that the scribes and pharisees outwardly appear as the offsring of woman, who is jealous for God, but in the reality are the generation of the serpent (generation of vipers). That is why they were liars and hypocrites.

41 Ye do the deeds of your father. Then said they to him, We be not born of fornication; we have one Father, even God.
42 Jesus said unto them, If God were your Father, ye would love me: for I proceeded forth and came from God; neither came I of myself, but he sent me.
43 Why do ye not understand my speech? even because ye cannot hear my word.
44 Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.
Jhn.8:41-44

29 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! because ye build the tombs of the prophets, and garnish the sepulchres of the righteous,
30 And say, If we had been in the days of our fathers, we would not have been partakers with them in the blood of the prophets.
31 Wherefore ye be witnesses unto yourselves, that ye are the children of them which killed the prophets.
32 Fill ye up then the measure of your fathers.
33 Ye serpents (ὄφεις), ye generation of vipers (γεννήματα ἐχιδνῶν), how can ye escape the damnation of hell?
Mat.23:29-33

34 O generation of vipers (γεννήματα ἐχιδνῶν), how can ye, being evil, speak good things? for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh.
Mat.12:34

25 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye make clean the outside of the cup and of the platter, but within they are full of extortion and excess.
26 Thou blind Pharisee, cleanse first that which is within the cup and platter, that the outside of them may be clean also.
27 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye are like unto whited sepulchres, which indeed appear beautiful outward, but are within full of dead [men's] bones, and of all uncleanness.
28 Even so ye also outwardly appear righteous unto men, but within ye are full of hypocrisy and iniquity.
34 Wherefore, behold, I send unto you prophets, and wise men, and scribes: and some of them ye shall kill and crucify; and some of them shall ye scourge in your synagogues, and persecute them from city to city:
35 That upon you may come all the righteous blood shed upon the earth, from the blood of righteous Abel unto the blood of Zacharias son of Barachias, whom ye slew between the temple and the altar.
36 Verily I say unto you, All these things shall come upon this generation.
Mat.23:25-36

7 But when he saw many of the Pharisees and Sadducees come to his baptism, he said unto them, O generation of vipers (Γεννήματα ἐχιδνῶν), who hath warned you to flee from the wrath to come?
8 Bring forth therefore fruits meet for repentance:
9 And think not to say within yourselves, We have Abraham to our father: for I say unto you, that God is able of these stones to raise up children unto Abraham.
10 And now also the axe is laid unto the root of the trees: therefore every tree which bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.
Mat.3:7-10

7 Then said he to the multitude that came forth to be baptized of him, O generation of vipers (Γεννήματα ἐχιδνῶν), who hath warned you to flee from the wrath to come?
8 Bring forth therefore fruits worthy of repentance, and begin not to say within yourselves, We have Abraham to our father: for I say unto you, That God is able of these stones to raise up children unto Abraham.
9 And now also the axe is laid unto the root of the trees: every tree therefore which bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.
Luk.3:7-9

Repentance

John the Baptist called the people through repentance to convert, to return to God from the evil one. By the means of the penance the man from the seed of the serpent could become the offsring of woman.

Luk.3:7-8

5 Then went out to him Jerusalem, and all Judaea, and all the region round about Jordan,
6 And were baptized of him in Jordan, confessing their sins.
Mat.3:5-10

39 And one of the malefactors which were hanged railed on him, saying, If thou be Christ, save thyself and us.
40 But the other answering rebuked him, saying, Dost not thou fear God, seeing thou art in the same condemnation?
41 And we indeed justly; for we receive the due reward of our deeds: but this man hath done nothing amiss.
42 And he said unto Jesus, Lord, remember me when thou comest into thy kingdom.
43 And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, To day shalt thou be with me in paradise.
Luk.23:39-43

Who does not work for Lord, works for the serpent

30 He that is not with me is against me; and he that gathereth not with me scattereth abroad.
31 Wherefore I say unto you, All manner of sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven unto men: but the blasphemy against the Holy Ghost shall not be forgiven unto men.
32 And whosoever speaketh a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him: but whosoever speaketh against the Holy Ghost, it shall not be forgiven him, neither in this world, neither in the world to come.
33 Either make the tree good, and his fruit good; or else make the tree corrupt, and his fruit corrupt: for the tree is known by his fruit.
34 O generation of vipers (γεννήματα ἐχιδνῶν), how can ye, being evil, speak good things? for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh.
35 A good man out of the good treasure of the heart bringeth forth good things: and an evil man out of the evil treasure bringeth forth evil things.
Mat.12:30-35

2 Hear, O heavens, and give ear, O earth: for the LORD hath spoken, I have nourished and brought up children, and they have rebelled against me.
3 The ox knoweth his owner, and the ass his master's crib: but Israel doth not know, my people doth not consider. Deu 32, 6.
4 Ah sinful nation, a people laden with iniquity, a seed of evildoers (σπέρμα πονηρόν), children that are corrupters (υἱοὶ ἄνομοι): they have forsaken the LORD, they have provoked the Holy One of Israel unto anger, they are gone away backward. Isa 30, 9. Isa 57, 3. Dan 9, 5.
Isa.1:2-4

Although our belonging to one or the other offspring, still not definitively defined (Eze 33, 12-20), nevertheless it is not something vague. The Holy Spirit makes us the children of God. If we acquire the Holy Spirit, we will born into eternal life. The Holy Spirit unites us in life with Jesus Christ, bestowing us eternal life. The presence of God's peace is clearly felt. In the conversation with St. Seraphim N. A. Motovilov articulated it this way: "I feel such calmness and peace in my soul that no words can express it."

4 He is the Rock, his work is perfect: for all his ways are judgment: a God of truth and without iniquity, just and right is he. 1Co 1, 9.
5 They have corrupted themselves, their spot is not the spot of his children (οὐκ αὐτῷ τέκνα μωμητά): they are a perverse and crooked generation (γενεὰ σκολιὰ καὶ διεστραμμένη).
Deu.32:4-5

12 How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations! Dan 8, 10.
13 For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north: 1Jo 2, 16. Eze 40, 2.
14 I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High.
15 Yet thou shalt be brought down to hell, to the sides of the pit. Eze 32, 23.
16 They that see thee shall narrowly look upon thee, and consider thee, [saying, Is] this the man that made the earth to tremble, that did shake kingdoms;
17 That made the world as a wilderness, and destroyed the cities thereof; that opened not the house of his prisoners?
18 All the kings of the nations, even all of them, lie in glory, every one in his own house.
19 But thou art cast out of thy grave like an abominable branch, and as the raiment of those that are slain, thrust through with a sword, that go down to the stones of the pit; as a carcase trodden under feet.
20 Thou shalt not be joined with them in burial, because thou hast destroyed thy land, and slain thy people: the seed of evildoers shall never be renowned (זֶרַע מְרֵעִֽים׃) (σπέρμα πονηρόν). Job 18, 19.
Isa.14:12-20

9 That this is a rebellious people, lying children (υἱοὶ ψευδεῖς), children that will not hear the law of the LORD: Act 7, 52.
Isa.30:9

4 Ah sinful nation, a people laden with iniquity, a seed of evildoers (σπέρμα πονηρόν), children that are corrupters (υἱοὶ ἄνομοι): they have forsaken the LORD, they have provoked the Holy One of Israel unto anger, they are gone away backward.
Isa.1:4

4 Against whom do ye sport yourselves? against whom make ye a wide mouth, and draw out the tongue? are ye not children of transgression, a seed of falsehood (זֶרַע שָֽׁקֶר׃) (σπέρμα ἄνομον), Rom 9, 6.
Isa.57:4

17 And the seventy returned again with joy, saying, Lord, even the devils are subject unto us through thy name.
18 And he said unto them, I beheld Satan as lightning fall from heaven.
19 Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.
20 Notwithstanding in this rejoice not, that the spirits are subject unto you; but rather rejoice, because your names are written in heaven.
Luk.10:17-20

When we are coming into this world, we enter into a struggle. There are two sides involved into this enmity and we are joining one or another. While the time lasts and the definition of the Judge for us is still uncertain, we fight as much as we can. The life of each of us is full of victories and defeats. Trying to define themselfs, we can even sometimes change sides in this struggle: become the seed of the serpent and fight for its victory; or return to the camp of the woman, becoming her offspring. Such changes are possible while we live in the allotted time. But the time comes to an end and soon the decision of the Judge about each of us will be determined:

5 He heard the sound of the trumpet, and took not warning; his blood shall be upon him. But he that taketh warning shall deliver his soul.

82. ... If a man, while still alive, can undergo death through his labors, then in his entirety he becomes the dwelling-place of the Holy Spirit; for such a man, before he has died, has already risen from the dead, as was the case with the blessed Apostle Paul and all those who have struggled and are struggling to the utmost against sin.
